The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by a preacher

The Bible teaches us that we should dress MODESTLY and not in a way that will bring attention to ourselves and provoke lustful thoughts from other peoples.  Here at Athens Academy, we believe the same thing. "The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by a cop"

We have a dress code for a reason; student safety is our number one priority, and we intend to bring all those who fail to follow the rules to justice. Any delinquents caught speeding down the hall sporting disheveled, untidy, or offensive attire will immediately be written up and given a warning as well as fined a reasonable amount. A second offense will result in a session meeting with said student accompanied by his/her parent or guardian. The student has the right to plead guilty or innocent and justify their actions. If caught for a third time, minimal hours of community service will be given. Persisting behavior will result in the student being escorted off the premises. This is only for the safety and well-being of the students. Remember: our goal is to serve and protect our community! And we cannot do that with hoodlums in the mix!

The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by Mr. Statchura

Upper School Dress Code

Boys
Tops:
* Collared or Turtleneck shirts, ironed and looking good for the ladies.-- tucked in because Mr. Snead wants you to.
* Sweatshirts or sweaters may be worn over a dress-code-conforming shirt. Unless you are support my least favorite sports team, then it must be burned.
Bottoms:
* Dress shorts with a belt (We don’t need your pants falling down, nobody wants to see that.)-- all must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. Because you never know someone may come around with a ruler and check that they are the right length.
* Slacks or jeans with a belt as appropriate. Make sure they are well fitting too, we all don’t want to look like Justin Bieber in his skinny jeans.
Shoes:
* Sneakers, tennis or running shoes. Be prepared, we might be running around campus for class today.
* Dress shoes; just in case you are going to a dance class with interact after school.
* Birkenstock-Style sandals, sorry those really aren't in style anymore, please try to refrain from wearing them.
* Dress sandals, we aren’t old men here, I want to try to stay as close to being young again as I can.
* Leather sandals-- Slip-on or lace-up. Slip on, I can do that, but who is a man and has time to lace up his sandals. (or even know how to do that)
Hair:
* Neat and well groomed, well this applies to some people, others just let theirs grow long and free.
* Cleanly shaven, with sideburns not extending below the lower edge of the ear opening. Otherwise we will kidnap you on your way to class and force you to shave your facial hair.
Hats:
* Outdoors only, unless Coach Gunn wants to wear his safari hat around school.

Girls
Tops:
*Collard, turtleneck or modest scoop, v-neck, or crewneck knit shirts—tucked in as appropriate. So basically anything you want as long as no one can see anything they don’t need too.
* Sweatshirts or sweaters may be worn over a dress-code-conforming shirt. No, but really if I don’t like that team, that jacket should be burned and never seen or worn again.
Bottoms:
*Dress shorts or skorts—all must be no shorter that two inches above the knee. I know no one wears skorts, but we aren’t at the fair when we were shorts here.
* Slacks or jeans. Ladies it is time to start pulling out your best pant suits and jeans for the fall and winter.
* Dresses, jumpers, or skirts—all must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. No one checks or cares, just as long as we can’t see your undergarments we are good.
* Leggings or shorts may be worn under a dress-code-conforming dress, jumper or skirt. Well everyone now knows that leggings are pants, who wants to wear them under a dress anymore?
Shoes:
*Sneakers, tennis or running shoes. Yes girls, we are not back in middle school where that in socially acceptable. If you wear any other sneakers than vans with jeans, than you might not have any friends at lunch.
*Dress shoes. Really? Why not wear heels or wedges everyday and fall flat on your face in front of the cute guy walking across the bridge.
*Birkenstock sandals, don’t go stealing your grandmothers shoes, you may borrow your friends clothes, but those things are horrible and they should just stay in her closet.
* Dress sandals, aren’t those the same thing as dress shoes?
* Leather sandals—slip-on or lace-up, you guys have so much time in the morning, why not look even better with a cute pair of sandals, as long as they are leather.
Hair:
*Neat and well groomed, with all the free time you guys have, you should go get it done every week.
Hats:
Outdoors only, do you girls even wear hats anymore?
Not allowed for boys or girls
*Camouflage or military attire, we aren’t holding guns or going into a battle right now, safe that for at home.
*Dresses, skirts, skort or short bottom shorter than two inches above the knee, basically as long as we don’t see what we don’t want to see everything is alright.
*Athletic pants or shorts, we want to look good not sloppy and disgusting.
*Midriff, cleavage, belly or lower back exposure, we are not at a strip club, please keep your clothes on.
*Objective words, slogans, pictures, or symbols, we aren’t in public school people.
*T-shirts, halter tops, tank tops, spaghetti strap tops or strapless tops, basically we don’t want to see your shoulders.
*Extreme haircuts, here we only want to look are best even our hair.
* Piercings other than ears, that would be cool but no one needs to see that at school.

Basically to wrap it all up, we want to look our best that we can, even if some of these rules seem ridiculous.

"The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by an experienced Senior."

As a senior looking around and observing the students around campus, the appearance portrayed to others is "sophistication." People at Athens Academy have class with what they wear. The main reason this is, is because of the dress code (to a certain extent.) As an experienced senior, I know all the tricks and know all the people to avoid, in order not to have that awkward conversation with a teacher and having to go home and change. There are certain unspoken rules and acceptances in the Athens Academy dress code where a person can come across "sophisticated" however be, very casual and comfortable at the same time. Here is reedited dress code:

Upper School: Girls

Tops:

  • basically any shirt of the appropriate length (no belly button)
    • if you are going to wear a T-Shirt  (by which the wording would have to be appropriate) or a thin strapped tank top make sure to cover it up with a cardigan when passing a teacher.
    • if you wear a see-through material shirt such as lace than make sure you are wearing a cami underneath.
Bottoms:
  • non-athletic casual and dress shorts or skorts, skirts, and dresses all of which should not be any shorter than finger-tip length or people will start talking and teachers will begin noticing and most likely say something . (I think the faculty secretly knows that is not only hard to find a skirt or dress at 2 inches above the knee but that it just does not look good. With that being said a person can usually get away with finger tip length- especially on special dress day)
  • Leggings, jeans, and slacks ( lets be honest there is barely a difference in leggings and skinny jeans other than the material)
Shoes:
  • all shoes except for water shoes
    •  i.e shower/beach flip flops or crocs
Upper School: Boys

Tops:
  • Collared or tutleneck shirt that can be un-tucked until you walk from class to class where teachers notice your shirt is not tucked in.
  • sweatshirts or sweaters (at this point boys can start wearing T-Shirts)
Bottoms:
  • basically any type of pants other than sweats
Shoes:
  • Same as above for girls... don't wear sandals made out of foam
Hair:
  • Shave pretty frequently or you will be given a razor to shave with in the school bathroom.

The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code as written by a Teenage Girl

What the school-wide dress code is
I'm allowed to set the standards for Athens Academy's dress code this year, which is really nice. Now I know that we're supposed to be very proper and pompous, and I respect that, but I also believe that we're in high school now and should be given a bit more freedom than what has been given to us before. I mean, I believe in modesty and all, but not like the overly-formal rules that exist right now. What I've made here still meets the standards of Modesty, Safety, and Serviceability that the original set of rules had. And besides, I'm being trusted to do this. But still.

Upper School

Boys
          Tops
-Collared shirts only. Turtlenecks are usually just unattractive and shouldn't be allowed on campus in the first place. My boyfriend and plenty of guys have complained about the tucking in rule that's so enforced so hard, so guys don't HAVE to have their shirts tucked in.
-Sweatshirts can be worn with out without a shirt underneath. The only rule is that the sweatshirt covers everything well; the school wouldn't want hair going everywhere, ugh.
-T-shirts are unbanned. These T-shirts still need to not have profanity or extreme graphics on them, but a certain amount of words or art is fine.
          Bottoms
-Dress shorts and athletic shorts are both fine. I'm keeping the "all must be no shorter than two inches above the knee" rule though because, well, nobody wants to see that.
-Any pants are cool. Ripped up jeans are awesome on guys and allowed too.
          Shoes
-Tennis, athletic, or running shoes are all fine. Not particularly encouraged, but fine.
-Dress shoes would be encouraged and preffered.
-Sandals of any sort are fine. The school's probably gonna jump on me about this. This includes dress, leather, slip-on, lace-up, and Birkenstock-style sandals; more importantly sport and beach sandals banned before (for some odd reason) are allowed.
          Hair
-Keep it groomed. Nobody, not even other guys, like messy or outlandish hair.
-As for shaving. If you can keep a clean, not-messy, maybe even sexy beard, go for it. If you're bad at it though or can't pull it off, you'll probably be asked to shave regularly.
          Hats
-Hats are cool. They can be worn at all times and I have no idea why they weren't allowed inside before.

Girls
          Tops
-Turtle-necks are still banned for this gender too
-More cleavage than before is allowed. Honestly, it's up to you, the wearer, to decide whether they want to be modest or just eye candy for the guys. Most shirts and tops go as far as types. Unfashionable or unreasonable tops are just not allowed though.
-Sweatshirts are also allowed, but they can't be very open with their holes
-See-through is still not allowed under any condition, to stay strict.
-Also to stay strict and just kinda decent, girls shouldn't show waist or stomach.
          Bottoms
-Skirts: Should be maybe 4 inches above the knees at most. In exchange for this relief of restriction on the length, I think it's fair to ask girls to be more conscious about their legs.
-Skorts: Since skorts are safely more modest than skirts, girls should be allowed to wear them a good 5 to 6 inches above the knees. The same rule above applies, though.
-Dresses are really nice and actually encouraged, for they also cover the rule about not revealing the waist and stomach.
          Shoes
-Sneakers, Tennis, and Athletic shoes all allowed.
-All sandals allowed
-Dress shoes allowed
-Dress and Leather sandals encouraged
           Hair
-I think most girls have a good sense of how attractive hair looks like, so the only restriction here is going to be for girls not to have hair that makes them look "dangerous"
          Hats
-All hats allowed. But why would you?

The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by Elmo

The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by Elmo

Ooo a dress code! Elmo loves dress codes! Everyone wants to do good in school, and the first part of doing good is looking good! Me walks around Athens Academy and boy is it nice to see all the boys and girls looking snazzy and handsome.

Boys are silly and always a mess, but there’s no need to dress that way! There are so many options of colors and sizes and brands and styles and materials! For a shirt, you can wear one that’s collared or turtleneck, but be sure to tuck it in! For bottoms, there’s dress shorts (only 2 inches above the knee!), slacks, or even jeans.  Boy this is exciting! Don’t forget your shoes! Where do me even start? There’s sneakers, Birkenstocks, sandals, and plenty more! Just make sure they are clean and in good condition!  Phew, if Elmo were to go to Athens Academy he knows exactly what he would wear every single day! Elmo would wear a bright red collared shirt with bright red shorts and bright red sandals. Pretty awesome, right?

Girls, don’t think I have forgotten about you! Me knows you love dressing up and looking nice, so this is no problem for you! Plus, you have lots more options than the boys. Your tops can be collared, turtleneck, or even have a scoop, v-neck, or crewneck.  Your bottoms can be shorts, skorts, slacks, jeans, dresses, or skirts! Jeeze, how do you even choose!? I know girlies love to touch up their outfit with some good looking shoes! So you can choose from sneakers, dress shoes, Birkenstocks, dress sandals, or leather sandals. My girlfriend, Zoe, practically drools over all these options.  She always seems to wear a tu tu…don’t ask why.

Let’s just make sure we don’t turn this dress code into a mess code! Avoid things like camouflage, short shorts/skirts, athletic bottoms, extreme piercings and haircuts, and facial hair. But who likes that stuff nowadays anyway? Elmo doesn’t!

So go into your closet and pick out all the good stuff! I know it will be hard with so many options, but you can do it! See you at school!

The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by Justin Bieber.

At Athens Academy, we like to keep things fly and fresh so we can provide a "One less lonely" atmosphere for each individual. We believe that a dress code should be relaxed and follow anything that Justin Bieber would wear on any given day.  The cloths should be something that is related to Justin Bieber or anything that he has worn recently. Hair should be one of my two famous hair styles.

For the Guys:

 Tops:
-Any kind of shirt can be worn. It doesn't matter how old or how new it is. You just have to wear it like me.
-Nothing tucked in. That does not define Swagy.
-Sweatshirts and sweaters are only if you are about to go running.
-Any shirt that is purple.
-White V-necks

Bottoms:
-Only designer jeans and shorts are accepted here. Nothing less.
-Belts are not required. Only use them to try and look cool.
-Skinny jeans are smiled upon.
-Jeans that are any other color than blue are allowed.

Shoes:
-Anything that is mid or high cut is accepted.
-Toms
-flip flops

Hair:
-Faux Hawk
-Quiff
-ANYTHING WITH BANGS

Hats:
-can be worn at anytime of the day.

For the Girls.

Tops:
-You girls Love me, Love me so love, love my shirts
-sweaters all have to have my face on them
-any v-neck is fine

Bottoms:
-Skirts
-Any kind of pants
-shorts are not alright

Shoes.
-same as the guys ladies, only high or mid-cut shoes allowed

Hair.
-pixie cut
-long and wavy

Hats.
-Anytime and anywhere.

Upper school students can show up to school in whatever is listed above. For special occasions they may dress as they wish.
