"The Athens Academy Upper School Dress Code, as written by a Dad"

Athens Academy seeks to provide the most appropriate atmosphere for each student. The school believes in the APPROPRIATENESS of the dress code. Each student should use Good Taste in dressing for school. Clothing must be MODEST, as so not to attract attention from the opposite sex. If the newest hip, funky, trendy look is not within these guidelines...Forget It!

Upper School 
Boys

• Tops 
• Polo Collared Shirts (tucked in) 
• Sweatshirts or Sweaters
• Either one cause there really is no difference as long as it is covering a school appropriate outfit. 
• Bottoms 
• Khakis/Jeans 
• w/ belt
• Shorts 
• w/belt
• Shoes 
• Hair
• Get haircuts
• SHAVE!

Girls

• Tops *all tops must withstand the sitting, standing, bending, and moving test, if it fails to do so you will be asked to go home and put actual clothes on*
• No cleavage, stomach, lower back or shoulder exposure.
• Nothing see through or tight 
• Bottoms 
• The cutest little mini skirt you just bought at the mall with your best friend Jill....NOT PERMITTED
• Leggings are for exercise NOT school
• Dresses 
• no shorter than an inch above the knee
• No shorts
• I do not care how hot it is
• Shoes
• No hooker heels/boot

*GIRLS YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT YOU KNOW IF YOU LOOK LIKE A PROPER LADY OR NOT UPON DEPARTING THE HOUSEHOLD*

Not allowed for Boys or Girls 

• Athletic pants 
• It is school not the Gym 
• No Camouflage 
• you must be visible at all times 
• ...and this is not the woods there is nothing for you to blend into. 
• No Military attire 
• unless you are actually in the Armed Forces 
• No cuss words, teen angst/rebel slang or pictures, no gang symbols of any kinda, or advertisement of alcohol/tobacco companies 
• No weird or "faddish"haircuts 
• included but not limited to Mohawks, Mullets, or rat tail pony tails. You are not Billy Ray Cyrus or a member of Metallica/Kiss/or ACDC
• No exposure of piercings anywhere but your EARS
• not everyone wants to know you have them 
• No showing Tattoos 
• especially the tramp stamp

Special Dress Day 

• Look Nice and not like a Hobo
• Take a Shower (smell good and look clean)
