People generally do not make connections between dog collars
and sentimental values; however, in my case, dog collars are some of the most
invaluable objects that I possess. My two dogs, Honey and Lucky, were a
significant part of my life until approximately two years ago when they died.
Not only were they my best friends, but they were also the ones to whom I could
always go whenever I was feeling upset. What was also so special about them was
that: they would never judge me, they would always comfort me when I was sick,
and they would always be so thrilled to see me, regardless of how much time had passed.
Every time I saw them, they brought me an immense feeling of joy. When they died,
my dad asked me if I wanted to keep their collars and I immediately responded,
“Yes!” Every time I see the collars, I experience flashbacks of the great
memories we shared together; those in which I will carry with me for the rest
of my life. If one looks at the collars closely, he can see minute fractions of
their hair and can even get little hints of their distinguishable smells.
Furthermore, when I pick up the collars, the unique jingle triggers the vivid
memories I cherish of my two dogs. Honey and Lucky were my friends since the
age of two, and even though they have passed away, they are, and always will
be, a major part of my life. Even though their bodies are not physically
present, their spirit resides in my heart. Their joy and unconditional love
have taught me what a true friend really is, and have significantly impacted
the person I am today.
Well Ive never really had a dog or cat to cuddle with or really love, so I never exactly got the attachment to people and their pets, but your story puts things a little into perspective for me and really wish I had a companion like a dog around to be there. Honey and Lucky meant a lot to you and that really shows.
ReplyDeleteI really like that you used your dogs. After having a total of 8 dogs that have lived in my house (all at different times) and getting to know them so well and having them around is amazing. I also liked how you used the dogs as a comfort to you.
