PBJ

The ingredients to a Peanut Butter Sandwich are very simple. There are two ordinary pieces of bread, a heavy helping of peanut butter, and a tablespoon of your favorite jelly. All these ingredients on their own hold no importance but putting them together makes an extraordinary sandwich. It makes a sandwich that can be made in a matter of minutes and eaten for lunch every day.

While eating this sandwich, the most chaotic of days become trouble free and time slows down. All your problems will melt away and a beautiful moment occurs. A moment of just you and a sandwich. There are so many times in our life that we are swept up by all that occurs around us and we forget to take time for ourselves. The PBJ allows us to slow down and indulge ourselves in a scrumptious sandwich.

I have eaten this sandwich every day for my tenure at Athens Academy. It has been with me through the thick and the thin. It is one of the only things that has remained constant throughout this changing world. If I was ever in Inception I would choose a PBJ to be my totem to remind me if I was dreaming or not. Every time I eat it I have a different experience, even though it never changes. It is still peanut butter, jelly, and bread but it is much more to me. It is my favorite sandwich.
