Analysis of The Mythical “War on Man” and The War on Men

The Mythical “War on Man” purpose was to show that war between the sexes was created by Feminists. “Stop the madness. There’s no war between the sexes. Men and women can, and should, be allies. And they are becoming more equal, and happier, every single day.” Kimmel believes there is no solution between the war on sexes because there is no war. There are men and there are women and they should not be considered the same/equal. A women has roles which she must do and a man has roles which he must do. Both roles complement each other and his final statement exemplifies this,  “the only way we can have it all is to halve it all.”
The reason we live from a biological standpoint is to reproduce. If we don’t reproduce then our species as a whole will suffer and die. This idea, I believe is at the heart of Kimmler’s idea of why men and women need to ally. It is in our human nature to be together and fighting a “war” against each other is counterproductive to the development of our species.
I don’t really like the term ally to describe the relationship between men and women,  because it has a connotation that we are at war over something. I feel like a part of his article is to say that there is no war and using the term ally it kind of states that there is a war, which weakens his argument.

The War on Men, takes the stance that there is a battle between the sexes, created by women, and what women are fighting to change was created by women. According to Venker, women are fighting biology and that has created their problems. Women just have to “surrender to their nature” and their problems will be fixed. I don’t think that will fix everything but it has some validity. My idea of the feminist movement is to make men and women equal, which they are not.  Accepting that men and women are not the same will help us move on.
I don’t like this article as much as the other cause it still has feminist attitudes. Women should not take all the burden of changing their situation, it is a combined effort between men and women to make each other better.

This is kind of a side note but why is there not masculine movement. I mean if women have their feminist movement and they want men and women to become equal why don’t we make a masculine movement, so we are. I don’t know what we would fight for but it would be kind of awesome. We could fight for a larger selection of meat in the grocery store by taking over the tofu section. We could fight for larger portions of food at restaurant instead of the tiny portions they sometimes give. We could have a masculine march on the Capitol. We could occupy D.C. and have huge tailgates where we get drunk and watch football and do masculine things. I don’t think anything would get done in the masculine movement but at least we could have a movement equal to the women.

  1. I like your comments about needing to accept the biology of men and women. To some extents, I agree that extreme feminism forgets about the biology of women as it gets so caught up in trying to achieve power and equality. A balance needs to be achieved between striving for equality while accepting the biological roles and traits of women and men.

Honestly Bob, you last paragraph is absurd. But I like it. I always pull for a larger selection of meat in the grocery store...

  2. I agree how there's no war between the sexes. I like how you said that the word ally should not be describe the relationship between men and women because it makes it seems that there's a war between them. I also like your last paragraph. It adds humor to your deep analysis of the article.
