The War on Men

The War on Men by Suzanne Venker and The Mythical War on Men by Michael Kimmel are two articles discussing the views men and women have on feminism.  I found both of the articles really interesting because, to me, the argument that men are superior or inferior to women is kind of ridiculous.

In Venker's article she states, "Women have pushed men off their pedestal (women had their own pedestal, but feminists convinced them otherwise) and climbed up to take what they were taught to believe was rightfully theirs."  I believe that women and men should be treated equally and there shouldn't even be a 'pedestal'.

The article The Mythical War on Men is Kimmel's response to Venker's article.  I really liked Kimmel's article a lot more than did Venker's article, I felt like his argument was a lot more reasonable.  He seems to understands and think that men and women are equal, as he states: "Why did the men think that it was their job?  Why wasn't the title of the show A black woman got a job or A black woman got the job?  The answer, I argued, was that these men felt entitled to the position, and that any effort to make the workplace more equal was perceived by those men, as a loss."
