How-To Conduct Yourself in a Movie Theater!

Millions of people enter a movie theater everyday, however, not every person understands the proper etiquette of “going to the movies.” First comes the buying of the ticket, food and drinks. You need to make sure that you stay in line and to not lose your place so that there is no annoyance to others, such as when there is the “cutting” of the line or the reentering the line after going to talk to your friends.  Once you are at the ticket booth or the counter, have a smile on your face and be polite. The people handing you your ticket and drinks are most likely very bored and have come across some rude people, be sure to brighten their day with kindness.

When going to the movies bring your quiet voice along with some tissues in case of a stuffy nose and a few tears. Once you enter the actual movie theater pick a spot where you know you will be satisfied  and where it is convenient to you in your own personal condition. For instance, if you are not feeling well and know that there may be a chance of having to leave the theater, sit in the back or on the aisle. Try not to knock anything or anybody’s food over while walking to your seat, for that could ruin someone else’s experience at the movies. Once you are seated simply sit back and relax, the movie you have come to see is about to start!! It is important, however, to not get to comfortable. Remember feet do not belong  on the chair in front of you but on the floor. Nobody likes smelly feet by their beautiful face.

After the movie has begun, the key to conducting yourself in the theater is controlling your level of sound. Just avoid talking and instead enjoy the film; be scared, laugh, and cry. Have the emotions the movie causes you to have. But for the sake of others around you, be sure to have those manners and not hysterically laugh, cry, or scream, for that will most likely bother the other viewers. In the situation where you need to use the restroom or refill your popcorn and drink, wait for there to be a certain transition scene or non-speaking scene in the movie so you do not distract others from watching the movie.

Conducting yourself in the movie theater is very simple. Just remember to use your manners and think of the other wonderful people around you.  Once the movie is over, you can begin talking again and walk out. Also, don’t forget  to throw away all of your trash and lastly, make sure to waive to the nice people who treated you to your movie and wish them a good rest of their day!
