Assertive/Agressive

The two words assertive and aggressive are both used in the place of one another very often. However, in my opinion, I see them as two opposites. The dictionary defines Assertive as having or showing a confident and forceful personality. It defines Aggressive as ready or likely to attack or confront. We mostly hear the word assertive when we are trying to argue something. Someone will normally tell us “Be assertive.” To me, to be assertive is to really show knowledge and motivation about the topic at hand. Assertive is more of what I would call “chill.” I don’t think that I have ever really heard someone use the word assertive when pertaining to something that can change your life. That’s normally when you would hear the word aggressive. To me, aggressive is when someone or something is determined about something or they are very dangerous. Aggressive is more of the “Gung-ho” word used to show determination in my mind. We use aggressive for more of a darker mind set. By this I mean we use it when something is serious about someone.
