teacher/instructor

Teachers and instructors both teach a subject.  However a teacher is usually less formal than an instructor and an instructor is typically more assertive.
A teacher is someone that you like.  A student is more able to relate to them.  Teachers, while still maintaining control of a classroom, can sometimes be fun.  Teachers are sometimes late to class or start class late.  They don’t give their students pop quizzes or assign essays over long weekends.  Teachers, when they don’t have lesson plans, will let you play games.  They often let the students watch movies in class without doing a worksheet.   Here are a few examples:
“I like that teacher, he doesn’t grade our homework.”
“My math teacher never gives us tests.”
“We played battleship against our teacher today.”
“Hey, where is the teacher?”
“The teacher let us have a free day.”
“That teacher gives us candy on test days.”

An instructor is more formal and assertive.  They are fun-suckers.  Every day they lecture in class.  They assign two hours of homework every night and then take the homework up for a grade.  They give a test and then a week later they give another test.  They check your notebooks to make sure you are taking notes.  An instructor doesn’t let you chew gum in class or makes you set your food outside the classroom.  Here are a few examples:
“Damn that instructor is a hard ass.”
“My instructor took up my phone today.”
“I fell asleep while the instructor was talking.”
“I was drinking water and the instructor made me pour it out.”
“The instructor wouldn’t let me finish my test.”
“The bell hadn’t rung yet and the instructor counted me late.”

  1. I like the examples that you give for each word it helps to better support the differences between the words you are subscribing. It was also funny when you said that instructors are "fun-suckers". This was kind of a hard compare and contrast to make and I like the way you went about doing it saying teachers are more of a likable figure than an instructor.
