Analysis on The mythical war on men and The war on men

In The Mythical War on Men, Kimmel brings up a good point, that “there is no actual war between the sexes. Men and women can, and should, be allies. And they are becoming more equal, and happier, every single day.” He explains how others assume that a women rising in the work force and around their communities are bringing the men down. That women are good and the men are bad. He goes on to say that they are only becoming more equal to the man and that they are so used to being on top, the only competition they usually had was another guy. Now women have introduced a whole new variable into a job interview, they often bring things to the table that men don’t, or vise-versa. He also brings up the topic that not only women, but men, often times want to come home and spend as much time with their children as they possibly can. Just like the women, they too will be doing as much work and family time in one a day. He tells us that men are actually happy with women who work as hard as they do, make as much money, and share the same passions, like spending time with their children. He presents all his research and information in a good way, he shows his examples on how others, like Suzanne Venker, perceive the rising women in the society and how they should still be seen as lower. But, the way that he describes to us that males and females can be equal and that it isn’t a bad thing to show how much men and women are actually equal.
In The War on Men, Suzanne Venker tells us about how women are women anymore. She begins by saying that men don’t want to necessarily marry the modern women. That the modern women have “destroyed the relationship between the sexes,” she also says that the ongoing battle might be the women’s fault. She says that men want someone to love not someone to compete with them. I disagree with her, I feel like she has said that it is the women’s fault and blamed them when they couldn’t really help that they were rising when the men weren’t going anywhere. They should now be considered equal, they are competing for jobs, being able to do the same amount of work and even more when getting a mother involved. Overall the women have worked to be where they are today.

  1. I like how you said Kimmel presents his point of view and argument in a good way. He was in fact on a more positive note. I also liked how you portrayed Venker and Kimmel as opposites by comparing them and using examples. You did a great job expressing Kimmel's argument in different words. Good Job Miss Katrina!

  2. I agree how there is no war between men and women like there was decades ago; and therefore, this demonstrates how they are equal.

  3. I agree with you about Venker in that she does blame women for things she really shouldn't. I really like the point that you made on how women have worked to be where they are today. They have and then men that complained I feel like don't account for that and how hard women have worked to get equal work.
